Principles of engagement

Six guiding principles provide the basis for improved community engagement in Queensland Government processes. For each of the brief scenarios below, select any applicable principle/s. You may select more than one option. Select the Feedback button at the end of this page to check your responses.

Question 1

The agency has implemented open and accountable community engagement practices and surveys have revealed increased public confidence in the agency.

The agency has worked hard to ensure that its engagement methods increase the breadth of citizens involved in government policy development, planning and decision-making.

While the agency has extensive expertise in its area of responsibility, it also acknowledges that significant knowledge and expertise reside within the communities it works with.

The adoption of greater levels of community engagement required significant reallocation of the work group’s resources, but resulted in measurable gains in the overall effectiveness of program planning, management and evaluation.
