Managing Community Engagement learning program

Warren Pitt

The Queensland Government released Engaging Queenslanders: Improving community engagement across the Queensland public sector in July 2003.

The strategy outlines the State Government’s commitment to engaging Queenslanders and to enhancing the capacity of public servants to contribute to better engagement practices with the community.

The Managing Community Engagement program is an important strategy developed by the Department of Communities in partnership with the Department of Industrial Relations, the Open Learning Institute of TAFE and other government departments.

The program provides detailed information that is relevant to all public servants, particularly those with responsibility for managing engagement or for supporting staff who regularly engage with the community.

I strongly recommend this program and encourage you to apply the skills and knowledge you take from the course to your day to day work and the engagement processes of your agency. I also encourage you to continue to explore emerging good community engagement practice via Get involved as enhanced community engagement delivers benefits to both government and the community and ultimately contributes to a better democracy. I hope you find this program rewarding.
